So. I've been waiting to do a second run before rating/leaving thoughts on TWFD because as much as I enjoyed my first run, I came at it on release day after a lonnnng day of work and travelling. I wanted to wait and get a chance to really sit with the game. I'm glad I did. It's a real treat, creatively energising in a way that the best games are.
One of the best elements of the game is the amount of detail offered up about the surrounding world. It's just enough to make sense and create an emotional response, while leaving space for the player's imagination to run wild. In lesser games these words or references to the wider universe might become word soup, or the space might create frustration but here it's just greater intrigue.
The characters are well written, as are the interactions. I loved that my interactions with the god, which are wonderfully woven into the narrative, felt like they were both fittingly divine and entirely unsatisfying in a good way. Also, Jenna, your descriptions perfectly bring the story to life.
The sound design and UI fit the tone and style of the game. I'm sure I'd have loved the plot without the music, but it serves to elevate the experience as a whole and has me thinking about how I should be employing it for my next game.
I feel like I could go on and also feel like whatever I write can't quite justify how much I enjoyed being dropped into this story, haha, so I will stop here. Great work.
