Gameplay: Didn't finish the game

I was trying out all of the games from this bundle that I bought and I saw that this was a browser game that had the same mechanics as Candy Crush but what you match influences the story. 

I tried to play it but the plot confused me and the match mechanics didn't make sense. There was no introduction to the game so I wasn't sure if I was doing right or wrong. I chose anger and it didn't seem to make anything bad happen, aside from some long-winded one sentence rant from a character. I tried choosing happy blocks and it didn't improve our condition or influence the story to progress better? I didn't feel like I was making any genuine changes to the flow of the plot or the gameplay at all so I lost interest.
