Written with wit and heart, and designed to reward players for leaning into the classic tropes of the "kid with monster" genre, animon is the best game in this vein I have seen. It understands the narrative and dramatic appeal of its content and doesn't get overly bogged down with mechanics, but still has enough crunch to make monsters distinct and combat satisfying.

I will be playing a lot of this game in my future!!
