SiFSweetman rated Rearguard

SiFSweetman rated a supplement 5 years ago
A downloadable supplement.

Ben and Caro have done such an incredible job, here, of taking Beam Saber's war-focused flavor and put you in the shoes of people who deal with the material conditions of those affected by, but not necessarily directly involved in the conflict. They are playbooks that are so flavorful that the way you play the game shifts completely if you take one of them on, which is something I think a great playbook should do. On top of that, the layout and design of this book is really slick, and stylish in the standard they set with the Giantkiller and continued with the Watchpoint. Caro uses bold shapes, high contrast and well-curated monochrome palettes that just look great as a whole. If you like Beam Saber, but find yourself wanting to be more feet on the ground, and looking at the way that war interacts with community, this supplement is for you. If you have played a lot of Beam Saber and are looking for a completely new way of interacting with its systems, this is exactly what you're looking for.
