Playing this game is like torturing yourself for fun, it's not my thing at all but it's someone else's. The first level was likely intrically designed to make you want to scream in anger at the sometimes Kaizo-level (as in, "haha you thought you could just jump there after spending 10 lives trying to perfect running from the platforms without dying?") amount of madness occurring in certain spots. I wanted to rage quit badly but I wanted to at least write a review so I managed to do that and try my hand at a few more.
I tend to really dislike this sort of thing because it places the blame on the player's non-frame perfect precision of inputs (which not everyone has) instead of them being incorrect about approaching a certain challenge. You know how to approach it, but it just so happens that its setup to suddenly catch you even if you do.
And look, I have never played a game like Crash Bandicoot before exactly, I have only played a small chunk of The Wrath of Cortex and thus don't have exactly the fullest idea of how this sort of game works, but as it stands, not my thing.
With that out of the way though, I praise with at least 7 party poppers (maybe more) the game's look, it has executed successfully a PSX-like look, all the color/texture work is great. If you're curious why I had come to this game in the first place, it was the look. And also a retweet from someone. But mainly the look!
I hope this game can have good success though, I can tell the people who do like this sort of game love this.
