The current iteration of Hair Dash is described as a "pre-alpha" version of a game in development which will eventually include multiple modes of play, levels/stages, and character customization. Right now, the only thing to do is try and up your high score on two different (but similar) stages. Even so, it's still solid as a quick arcade game. You play as a color-randomized hero with fabulous hair, fighting against pirate themed enemies. A jaunty nautical shanty accompanies. The pixel art is cute and cartoony, which works well with the somewhat humorous angle the game takes. Gameplay is fast and intuitive, using only two buttons (left and right, either on your mouse or the directional arrows on your keyboard) to attack to either side. While the concept is very simple, the fast pace and the variety of enemies requiring different strategies (some explode, throw swords, or switch sides) adds enough challenge to keep the game from getting monotonous. I hope to be able to play the completed version in the future.
