While I haven't had an opportunity to read "If Not Us, Then Who," which this is based on, I can say that this game absolutely stands up on its own in a very strong way. The framework and episodic nature of television is utilized to make this such a fun game that you can pick up and play quickly with no tedious prep work. You and the other player(s) are able to really lean into the mystery and suspense of tv thrillers and pick the parts you want to focus on.
One of my favorite bits is how "characters are made out of secrets." There are other parts and elements to any character, but requiring characters to have three different types of secrets and having that really drive the narrative enhances the suspense and mystery of the genre that this recreates. Quite frankly it is something that I'd like to see more games utilize that involve this sort of genre.
Another bit that stood out to me was "The After Show" as a debrief of episodes/sessions which is a great way to check in with everyone and discuss the game while you wrap up. The format of it fits perfectly with the rest of the game.
I highly recommend this and look forward to playing a session in the future!
