Very spooky and disturbing if you're easily disturbed like me, and maybe even if you're not-so-easily! I've never read the source material, but this does a lot with a pretty minimalist aesthetic (the art is pretty fantastic) and WiL even added some things to ZZT to help make this a more interesting and (visually) unique experience, but it doesn't feel substantially "non-ZZT" in the process.
