Immaterialise rated By Your Side

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

this was a really strange game, i'm not sure i can describe it

on the surface level it seemed pretty typically cute, but then it had these hard-to-place creepy undertones. i'm not even completely sure why. the whole thing felt very... surreal. like not everything was actually as it seemed. like there was something inexplicable happening behind the scenes

and the game does allude to this, so i guess it's not completely unexpected, it's just... i guess it was done very well. i was very certain things were going to take a turn for the worst every second along the way, but then... it never did.

the game is very repetitive, but, unusually, i think that works in it's favour. it adds to the underlying creepiness somehow, and it's very easy to skip dialogue you've read already anyway, so not even that much of a problem.

other than this, it seemed pretty rough around the edges. especially the ending, which sort of came out of nowhere. if the ending was more clearly defined, and there was some sort of build up to a revalation about the world/Me/Heroine at the end, i might have given this 5/5
