So there's a movie named Good Boy with a similar premise to this, except it's the worst thing I've seen in my entire life. But it puts Dogs don't think about death in another perspective to me - here, the pup play is engaged with earnestly, wearing the kink side of things on its sleeve and doesn't conflate it with the fucked up thriller/horror going on. If anything, the narrative uses the psychology of pup play excellently, as it becomes an act of comfort for the two leads. Sydney gets to care about someone fragile, and Eddie gets to be fragile.

Of course, this is toxic yuri, and yeah it delivers with an uncomfortable developing romance where the protagonist gets dragged down into accepting very questionable morality as a price to be paid for being accepted herself. The dream sequences are well done to show her true mental state through symbolism, unfiltered by the constant internal rationalisation in the real world.

The art here is simply some of the best I've seen in a VN, striking use of colour which extends to coloured line art to cut through the backgrounds. With this being a long VN done in a month using only CGs, there is some reuse - but even these are chosen well, working to build up the monotony and unclear passage of time. (Sydney is... well, she's very hot and I'd probably fold on accepting her predilections too 🥴).

The music is moody and elevate the scenes it's used for, although personally I'd have preferred something other than complete silence for probably 2/3s of the runtime.

Dogs don't think about death is queer and kink horror at its very best, and I see (and hope) this becoming a furry VN classic everyone with the stomach to survive what it has in store plays.
