this is such a tragic tale
so much longing
the pain of want and how entitlment can twist best intentions and even genuine love and apprciation into somthing that destroys
most of the way thru this game i was unsure how toxic it was gonna be. there was buliding blocks for a much less harrowing story, but the tragedy that comes from "if only she....if only they....whish they commuicated more...i wish i wish i wish"
i guess thats how life is huh? we want the relationships that turned south to not do so. we want people to make different choices. we wish so much.
but all we can do sometimes is bleed, and find peace. or what little of it we can grasp in her hands.
also also also, we love how the game plays with the negative space. between the time skips and the events that are alluded to, there feels like there is a lot going on in the background we dont get to see. and of course that makes sense from the sword's point of veiw. very ludanarrativly resonanate
we could imagine a chapter between 8 and 9 but how one chapter goes into the next at a breakneck speed, not drawing it out at all...it kinda took the wind out of us ; not letting whats about to happen sink in slowly bc this is what is happening now, we cant stop it.
theres a lot implied now that i think about it like maybe the knight never got premission to ascend the throne, maybe she just...took it? knowing how it ends a 2nd playthru is gonna hurt MORE actually. particualry the stuff about wanting to never take off armor and not wanting to be vaunrable at all.
also damn that god who made the sword is a cruel one. the cosmic irony is slay the princess worthy. (assuming this is all predestination.) thought at the end of the day there are choices you make..and there are ways you are that you cant seem to change. some things feel right. and some things feel good, even if they get persued for the wrong reasons.
