This was sad and beautiful. a tragic love story over the expanse of time. my eyes are so red and my heart is raw. im writing this right after finishing. thinking about what we'd do in such a situation...and sitting in the thought that things wouldnt be much different. although hindsight is 20/20
Reflecting on death and fungus and hive miind unity vs personal individuality selfishness was so humbling. I saw myself and my own partner in these charcters. it scared me
the capacity to harm and to love are held within the same hands. the fear that one will make the same mistakes, the fear that one isn't worth being loved or cared for the fear that u are only being tolerated...its really hard to exist in the world, and the guilt of how much harder it is for the people who help us survive is...as hard to face as staring directly into the sun
this was very cathartic. the end of the world sections were relatable enough to but us in the headspace of, the DMV, the airport, voting, trying to get food stamps. the anxiety of even a small fuckup or bc of someone whim that everything gets ruined...that llfe gets ruined. it sucks that even when things are so dire that mundanity of evil and buaracy of life stay perfectly intact. its maddening....and u captured it so well
also the power dynamic shit between the sections was unreal. esp once all the context sinks in. this must have been fun and also heartbreaking to write.
"how many conversations have we had with only our footsteps" is such a moment of all time.
There are so many converstations that dont happen verbally, that we avoid having verbally even if we've been having them with otu footsteps for years. cause ones our mouths open its hard to know when you'll stop, push too hard or say something u regret. sometimes its just better to leave well enough alone...or at least it feels that way
even outside of the context of that moment it feels like its an emotional thru line. the dynamic of who walks, who gets to lead, how fast, and who has to just rush to match the pace of the other and who can choose to set the pace reguardless of consequences. the weight of these themes just escelates and escelates. as more context piles on in each scene. the burden of autonomy is so dysregulating. being the partner with agency that needs to make sure you both stay alive is... alot. but the weight of the one who sits in dysfuction and disablity is also a lot. we have a few couples we think we wanna show this game to.
also gotta say the character designs are beautiful and my sicko heart is pleased, both in the present day and future segments, I couldnt stop thinking of Nanachi lol
