Genuinely one of the best written visual novels I've played. The characters are COMPLEX, they have motives that are slowly revealed over every ending. It tackles heavy topics, and does so in a way that feels respectful. The trauma is taken seriously, and we are beaten over the head with the fact no character is in the right. That neither side should be doing what they are doing.
(I also love how the first line of the description is censored, It's could mean he kills you, loots you, fucks you, or loves you. It perfectly describes the flow of the game.)
The wolves (And most likely predators as a whole) are shunned from society, and we see them just trying to survive in the wild as the resources they've lived with for generations are stolen from them. Tundra as overbearing as she is, is trying to make sure the pack can survive each day, just long enough to see tomorrow. Her mate was beaten to death, her land was infested by rabbits who would kill her kind for getting to close. She is traumatized, and feels the need to over ration the resources, and to (as gently as she can) demand Twig to listen to her over Timber.
Her point of view is as long as you're currently alive, there's no need to worry about anything else. Certainly not to dwell on what's bothering you.
Timber watched it unfold since he was a child, watched as the pack grew smaller, and smaller from starvation, illness or the cold. He grew resentful of the rabbits, of what they did to his home, his family, and his father. He has to scavenge to survive, while they get to live off a land that's not theirs. He never (directly) murdered the rabbits who trecked too far, but it was still thrilling watching them scramble away into more danger. His pack needs to eat, they know what they are doing is wrong, but... They don't have any other choice in the matter, they'll die in the winter when food is scarce. If he doesn't do it, Tundra will.
Senbei is someone who's gotten obsessed with the idea of bringing predators to justice, and in his quest to do so, became obsessed with Timber. He wants to stop the killing of his people by committing a genocide. He's a person who never had to work for anything, someone who's grown reliant on the powers of others to fulfill his goals, he has no respect for those he sees as lesser than. And he genuinely thinks the world would be better without the "undesirables".
He's self-justifying, sexually frustrated, and he THINKS he's on the right side of history. He's a terrifying antagonist, because you know exactly where his actions stem from. He's the last person who should have the power he does.
I love how the player characters start out as self-inserts, but then are gradually built into full characters. Plum and Twig are very fun characters, and I love them.
I keep accidentally stumbling across your work and not realizing it's you until after I've played it to completion. Syrup and the ultimate sweet has been sitting in the back of my head for a while.
