librel rated Killer Chat! Original Edition

librel rated a game 66 days ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Really enjoyed this experience! For the record, spent a few hours immersed in the world from beginning to end. Lots of positives to mention, not least that the characters were genuinely likeable (which, as a serial killer game, was a little bit of a worry haha). I, for one, enjoyed the voice acting, and think Ronin's voice suited him well. Loved the art - and, a tiny thing, but I loved that when you see your character in video calls etc., they don't look uncanny and actually have expressions and stuff!! It makes it feel all the more immersive.

The music is really funky and fun, but I will say that I turned it off about 5 minutes in because hearing that ostinato too many times made me a bit insane. Plus, it felt like the music was always a bit too loud and busy with all the voices too? Even turning the music volume down. But beyond that...

I pursued Ronin, which was really satisfying. When I say that I genuinely felt this double-pronged terror AND excitement when he began threatening to kill my character. That sort of thing just gets the blood pumping, I guess lol. The name mystery was also really satisfying to piece together. Of course, went for the "bad ending", which I loved, then for the "good", which I did not love (through no fault of writing but because Ronin is just so babygirl).

Another thing I liked is that when I rewound my dialogue choices and chose other trees, sometimes they were really quite fruitful and gave me a much rounder picture of the character! So it just goes to show that your dialogue choices DO matter, even in the way of building up this picture of the lil serial killer you're wooing.

I wasn't expecting the game to be so fleshed out - I really just stumbled onto it - so it was an incredible surprise to be knee deep in this serial killer group chat for so many hours.

So, to wrap it up: very much enjoyed!! Thank you devs!!
