Yttreia rated Project: Quimbly Alpha

Yttreia rated a game 20 days ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

The actual copy of the game here on Itch is abandoned.  The last update was in late 2024, with no plans on further updates until the full release (no ETA, I think). For reference, the version on Itch is ~29 updates and 1.5 years out of date, as of the time I'm writing this.
Any new notifications about the game posted here are mostly just about other projects, the Patreon ($10+/mo to play the game), a random picture, or updates about the Belly Directs on Youtube.

The current version of the game actually ON Itch, the version I'm reviewing here, is pretty grindy and very unfinished, unpolished and unbalanced, so it's a bit hard to recommend, the entire gameplay loop is basically just a LOT of grinding, which sucks a lot of the fun out of it. If you want, you can grind your own stats to make grinding the girls' stats a bit faster.
Then if you're into stuffing and WG, you also have to grind money by doing jobs instead of just grinding the pumping minigame, which just means more grinding and it's not even "sexy grinding", it's busywork like sorting boxes and washing dishes.
Don't get me wrong, the bellies are nice and they get big, but it's annoying to have to spend an hour grinding one girl who might not even have all her content implemented, and then work on the next, then work on the next, doing this like six times with no real difference to the gameplay; mechanically each minigame is the same for each girl.

I think this situation would be a lot more tolerable if:
A: There was a way to buy the game outright instead of spending ~$120 per year on the Patreon for the X years until it's finished, or just subbing for a month every now and then for an update to your downloaded copy. (Honestly this is a common complaint I have with a lot of Patreon games.)
B: The final free update wasn't just some random update they decided to stop on and it was a proper capstone update that polished what they had.
C: The free Steam demo got updated more than, like, once.
D: There was an ETA for the full release.
E: Inflating a girl raised her stuffing capacity a bit, and vice versa, so it cuts down on the grinding.

I'll update the review score if the Itch game gets updated, but as it stands the game's just too unfinished and grindy to rate higher.
