This visual novel was a long but incredibly wonderful read. There is so much emotion in this story and I often found myself pausing after a long segment to just sit and think - about One, about Anhedonia, about the world they live in full of rejection and hatred, about love, about the kindness of friends like Spectra... It is all such a beautiful tragedy.
The heavily distorted images threw me off initially, and they did take some time to get used to. But ultimately, I do like how they added to the gritty nature of the world, and I like how they - whether intentionally or otherwise - create a sense of ambiguity and detachment from the rest of the world. It worked out really nicely with how the main focus of the story is on the main duo.
While reading, I noticed maybe two or three minor spelling mistakes but none of them affected the flow of reading. One more major complaint I have is the audio - the volume of the tracks is inconsistent, and one track in particular is significantly louder than the others. This isn't too bad on speakers but the volume difference is quite noticeable with headphones.
I wasn't sure what to expect with the ending, there were so many different ways the story could have concluded. But I think the way it ended is nothing short of perfect; despite the ambiguity, it's a very satisfying conclusion to the story of One and Anhedonia. I will definitely be joining the crowd of those looking forward to Snek's future stories.
