Crashed and lost a lot of progress, not enough save points and no easy way to tell where you are on the map to get back to one (as opposed to Metroid's auto-map which tells you where you are), not enough sound effects when interacting with things such as any jump sound or tethering sounds which make the game feel incomplete.
