You can tell when artists of all kinds - writers, painters, musicians, even programmers - love what they make.
You can feel the care and passion within the work.
And when you're reading Glory Hounds, you can feel the love from the second you open it and start reading. Every issue makes me feel like I'm turning the pages of a comic book, every issue makes me smile so hard my face starts to hurt because this VN is queer joy injected directly into my bloodstream.
It is exactly outrageous and silly enough for a superhero story while respecting the more serious emotional beats.
The pacing is fantastic, no issue overstays its welcome nor does it feel rushed. A rare thing that while I am continually excited for the next issue, each one leaves me satisfied, like I saw the characters grow and evolve in a way that really fits.
There are robust accessibility options that I did not personally need but I am thrilled to see all the same.
Glory Hounds execution of action sequences is phenomenal. Highly expressive and animated sprites (really, some of the best sprites in the entire medium / fvn niche) blended seamlessly with comic-book style panels give every punch a lot of oomphf.
The characters are alive, they're fun, theres plenty of fan-service but not in a way that distracts from the plot or feels pushed. It's downright inspiring to see people from our fandom come together and make something like this. It genuinely brightens my day, even during these tough times. What else is there to say?
Glory hounds is a delight. Sheer joy, fun, silly, action, and so full of heart that it makes an angry pessimistic curmudgeon like me believe that better things are possible.
There is so much passion and hard work and skill behind this, you're doing yourself a disservice by not reading it.
