raog rated Starmaker Story

A downloadable game for Windows.

*contains some spoilers*

Love so many things about this game, and it's one of my favorites in the genre, but it still needs a lot of work before it's a "great" game instead of a "good" game. There's four things I think need improvement.

One is the continuity of some scenes seems off. Sometimes you'll get a scene or a piece of dialogue that suggests you've progressed further or less far than you actually have. For instance, after reaching a certain point with Anna, she might allow you to shower with her, but then be upset if you suggest she goes topless for a picture (even though she's already been topless with you another time before). Or similarly, if you happen to have taken the game slowly and haven't progressed quickly with her physically yet (as in my case on my last playthru), on the Valentines Day event she'll still randomly be very forward about trying to give you a handjob even though at that point even the suggestion of any sexual contact had upset her. These are just two examples that come to mind off the bat. I think there needs to be more progress checks aside from just the 5 stars, otherwise it leaves it too open for error like this and breaks the immersion of the game (given that the slow burn with her is one of the main appeals for a lot of players).

Second is the inconsistency of the art in some scenes (this mostly seems to be a problem with Anna given that she has so many more scenes). There's a few pictures that make her look pretty different than she normally does. For instance, one or two of the pics from hiking give her a very young/cutesy anime look to her face, which doesn't feel consistent with most of her other scenes. Also in the new window mini game, something about her proportions is definitely off.  I think her nose is too big and her legs to short in that shot. Idk if this issue has to do with the use of AI in the art, or just trying to churn out new content too fast without fine-tuning the art, but just thought I'd bring it up in case dev. wanted to adjust it before the full game release.

The third thing is I'd love there to be more interactive content rather than just going from point A to point B. For instance, I love the milk content in the barn, and that it actually involves player input and responses from the characters (and it's hot). But this is honestly about all there is. There are "mini games" but most of them are either very boring/too long (the table top game) or not remotely suggestive/sexual and kinda break the vibe of the game. For instance the window cleaning is kinda a pain and takes too long, and the tabletop game (tho it as a stand alone mini game is fun), should have fewer rounds to complete (also why does the dancing with Alice mini game not stop when I get the required score... you have to wait for the timer to finish for some reason). I'd love to see more interactive content that actually is relevant to the game, and is more sexual (the live streaming in the basement is pretty good). This obviously is just personal opinion, but I think if there's going to be mini games that break up the normal gameplay, they need to be relevant to the nature of this adult game.

Lastly, I'd like to see more Anna content. I love that this game has so much content with so many different characters, but I think in doing so it feels like it might be spread a bit thin. Anna is the main focus of the story (whichever route you take) so I think some more content with her would be great. Obviously she already has by far the most content, but I think even just some more passing dialogue, variety in the interactions with her, etc. would make it feel more well-rounded. Especially when it's stuff around the house (i.e. maybe more dialogue options with her in the kitchen, other places you can bump into her around the house, etc. otherwise the day to day content between side quests or star progression gets to be very repetitive very fast).

Anyways sorry that's a lot, I'm just coming at this as someone who loves the game and wants to see it continuing to improve. I've been playing it nearly every update since 1.4(?) and have loved so much about the game, so don't want the above feedback to sound overly critical, just my humble opinion about what could help this game go from being really good to one of the best (or THE best) in the genre.

Cheers!
