Has been for awhile. The current version is supposed to be more stable and easy to build on compared to the original game.

Unfortunately, as someone who played the original game and played through multiple builds, the current version CK v0.2.1 is not giving confidence. The older build had much more content, but that isn't my issue, the two major problems I have are that the current appearance of the characters do not look appealing at all compared to their original selves and the world has been changed enough from the start that I don't see it as the same game anymore.

So for a player who is more familiar, this game would appear as a weird copy of the original if you just saw the game without context, and even with it I find it lacking, obviously it is being built from the ground up, but the characters weird faces mostly their noses and the change in setting which can and does effect the story make the game uncomfortable to play when compared to the original which I had been playing since near the beginning. Even with all the changes, the original never made the characters look ugly or off-putting, and even with the many updates, the original story was never drastically changed or it's setting which had more mystery going for it. This new version removes that mystery and makes the world aware of the supernatural, which really ruins the original story by taking away the impact made by the discovery of other creatures and people.

Play the original first then compare it to the new one, they say you can ask for the original on Discord and maybe find it on Subscribestar. Though, I read they took the original game down for the new one on Subscribestar, which doesn't inspire confidence when they try to bury the original to replace it. That way you can decide if it is missing something or if it seems like a downgrade or an upgrade. So far it's a downgrade to me.

The original was 4 out of 5 mostly because it was unfinished, the new one is being made as it's replacement and isn't really doing well starting off so it is becoming a 3 or less, I'll leave my 4 out of 5 stars for now but it might change depending on what happens from here. Even the Discord is just nonstop hyping the new one up and no one is even saying anything criticizing or constructive like a bunch of AI bots. No one seems to talk about it's changes and acts as if it's normal or always has been. Usually chasing off both newcomers and older fans.
