It's hard to be invested in the mystery when the characters are empty shells, annoying or both. And that's incredibly disappointing after the last game, where the trio (who return for Shake Your Destiny) were fun and well-developed. Though maybe they're nowhere near as good this time around because we're seeing them through the POV of a character who's already unlikable before the intrusive thoughts start kicking in.
