As a creator of solo games, I found this overview really helpful for what an experienced player needs from a game system. I like to provide a lot more scaffolding than your typical open-world solo RPG, focusing a lot more on the journaling aspect. This framework lets me figure out how where I want the scaffold to just provide answers versus where to push the player harder on filling in blanks.
