Inspiring. Might write something about it.
It's Thursday night at FC, where my college friend is hosting a DJ set, which I flew 30+ hours to attend. On the uber, I wrap my travel documents bag around my leg twice. I am tired and paranoid.
There's a friend I talk to everyday on discord. After a couple awkward telegram exchanges, we find each other on the set. He leans his head on my shoulder and hugs me.
He is my Blake. I'm too tired to dance to Porter Robinson and House, which frankly is not for me, so I sit in the back where the strobe lights can't reach, hug my bags and watch.
For the next hour and a half, trancing, I watch half-naked, sweaty headless animals, dance and hug each other.
And this strange magic hits me.
3 days to live attempts to capture this moment, though less sweet and more bitter. The anticipation of meeting an online friend, missing out on hook ups, getting whisked away by hot men for a side quest, the disappointment, it's all there. It took me finally going to a con to understand this feeling - like walking through a torii gate.
