This is an absolutely lovely game. The soundtrack, the art, the story—everything about The Beekeeper's Picnic makes it perfect to cozy up for a few hours of cottagecore mystery with. Also, queer (if you choose) Sherlock and Watson in retirement!
Jabbage clearly knows their stuff when it comes to the Conan-Doyle lore, and there are fun bits like the tobacco slipper and the Diogenes Club, as well as little adjacent cameos like two very intelligent mice. Gameplay is generally smooth, with most item interactions accounted for and a mechanism for hints. It is all fixed-path, as far as I can tell (I couldn't use my smoker to create a distraction) but there are optional quests to clown around with and even different route options to choose from.
The dialogue and narration is lovely writing, and the voice-acting is superb. The voice for Holmes kills every line.
I don't think I can say much more without getting into spoiler territory for your small-town adventures, but the game is a joy, it runs well on Mac (see Jabbage's tutorial for ScummVM), and you should play it.
I got myself set up with a pot of tea, a nice plate of dinner, a sweet treat, a notebook, and this game, and I had a delightful evening. What more can one ask for?
Just realized these aren't public—thank you for your wonderful game, Jabbage and team! Oops :)
