A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

My impression of this game has gone all over the place. Low to high to low to high and back again. The beginning was pretty slow and I honestly almost dismissed the game entirely after 30-40 minutes of play but decided to stick through it. Glad I did because there is some really cool and really fun stuff in the game that I enjoy but there are still some times of great frustration.

A few things-
The walk speed sucks. Getting a boat was very nice and teleporters are nice but walking across the land is painfully slow. I don't know if it gets better later but I'm 30 hours into the game and haven't seen something that makes walking better.

The menus. Man. I can see what the idea was with these but it could have been executed better. My main gripe with them is that a lot of times, I would try to move something into a menu or take something out and it would instead target a menu behind the one I wanted. There were also a lot of times that I was trying to add/remove something from my inventory but there were crafters behind the inventory slots at the top of my screen and I would end up opening the crafter instead. The game also needed a better way to move several objects from from one menu to the next. Constantly clicking back and forth from the Uncapper to the Centrifuge to my inventory sucked.

The in game guide/tutorial at the beginning is so bad. The pages have paragraphs of 'info' but many times it does not really explain the mechanic in game itself. Or there will an item/mechanic introduced but it is locked behind another crafter that is something you find later on in the game. (Ex. trying to repopulate the reef after getting a brand new boat and exploring for the first time) I'm usually not too fussed if it's one or two things in a game that does this but it was *a lot* of little things that took trial and error to figure out.

There are some other things, like how bad earning money was in the beginning, or how the durability of the of the tool used to harvest from the beehives/apiaries (can't think of the name and for whatever reason it is not in the wiki) so quickly, and more but I have already written a lot so I'll just stop here. I really do like the game though.

I like the science parts of the game, I like breeding the bees and figuring out how to 'improve' some of the species or find new breeds of bee. I like that there is just a lot of 'stuff' to do in general. The game has a lot to offer and keep someone engaged, but also does a lot that hampers this. No stamina or forced sleep does wonders in this regard because it let's me keep trying to figure out whatever it is I need to progress, so I do appreciate that. It's actually a great game but there are some really big things I think hold it back from being as popular as some other cozy games.
