Honestly, I played the original demo (before itch's big crack down) quite a long time ago and while the characters have changed slightly, the writing feels like it's been ramped up a notch. It's meaningful, and the dialog feels natural. I've been a fan of the art since it released on itch, and love how it looks unique and slightly cartoony, but also has a (necessary :P) adult feel and vibe to it. Really awesome stuff.
Oh! And the voice acting? That pushes this game to five stars for me. All real voice actors and all doing a really good job. This is one to keep an eye on and I'm looking forward to the full release.
