knitjumper rated Postbird in Provence 2021

A downloadable game for Windows.

I thought this was a delightful little experiance! I have some thoughts:

-The feeling of the world, the location, the map design, were all excellant, cohesve, and charming. The overall aesthetic accomplished through sound, animation and visual design works together very well, and is certainly evocative of summer days in Provence.

-The core concept was great- a newcomer in a new town/location is always a compelling start, putting the player and their character in the same shoes encourages curiosity and exploration.

-It was however, a very short experiance- very VERY short! I did return to play more, but once the bulk of exploration is complete, there isn't anything left to pull you back in. The stories behind the packages were the most interesting part, but with only a very limited number of deliveries to make, the experiance falters some.

-The riding controls were a little...difficult. On the one hand, they were very snappy, and there was a distinct lack of weight and momentum. For example, if you took your finger off a movement key, the bike would stop almost instantly, it wouldn't roll downhill or maintain some speed.

-The choice to have a fixed camera might make the game more accessable, but also limits exploration, control and overall immersion. I think the bike riding in paticular would have benefited from a proper follow cam.

Overall, I thought this was a wonderful game, and I would VERY much like to play more of something like this- and it's easy to imagine how you could expand this core concept- races, day night cycles, money and purchasable items (like clothing), expanding the area, or even having seasons- these could all be added at a later time.
