CrumbleKoek rated Mis Amigos

A downloadable game for Windows.

This is a very short, brief and fun little PVZ inspired experience that I had a total blast playing through!! I beat it in two separate sittings and it was very fun, I really could see this game becoming something truly special if it keeps getting worked on.

The only reason why I rated it 4 and not 5 stars is because I felt like the game doesn't do a good enough job of making the endgame of levels difficult. I genuinely love the lawnmower type enemy, and the eagle that summons enemies to various lanes, the latter of which is a really fun spin on PVZ's bungee zombie!!

However, even so, the levels didn't do a very good job of staying engaging throughout, the units you use are also very hit and miss.

The star thingy is adorable and wonderful, a great peashooter replacement! The toy soldier is easily the best unit in the game, the mechanic of being able to shoot in any lane, but having to manually choose what lane to shoot in was amazing and something I'm surprised I haven't seen in PVZ 1 or 2 mod before.

The teddy bear is also a great wall-nut replacement, I love how it deteriorates in such a grotesque bloody way, really great stuff! Also super useful to stop those lawnmower type enemies!

The other two units, I never found much use for. The balloon felt pretty useless, the fact that you have to blow it up is awesome, but the reward simply isn't worth the price and having to take precious music box time to blow it up. Would've been VERY worth it had it had a doom-shroom like effect. Maybe it does, it's been a while since I played.

The lawnmower being a unit instead of always being there was a GREAT idea, but it simply costs too much, and when you spend so much to save a single lane, you're usually left with very little to build that lane back up or defend the other lanes, causing me to just ignore it.

The enemies are all pretty good, I love the hands, and the face too. I know it explicitly wasn't inspired by "The Face" from Battle Cats, but that was definitely the first thing I thought of, especially when it opens it's mouth similarly to the iconic EOC Chapter 3 Moon Face's attack.

The strange music playing enemy was incredibly foreboding and I love that it seemingly had an effect on other enemies, but the effect wasn't drastic enough for me to view it as a huge threat or a priority. The eye is a fun idea, leaving a trail behind that you can't place units on, but in practice it was more annoying than actually being a threat. If it sped enemies who walked on it up or something it would be a genuine priority, but as it stands the eye is more of a minor nuisance than a threat.

The art is absolutely DELECTABLE, I adore how much love and care was put into it, the style is very unique and fun. I also love how vague and ominous the game's story and setting is. The game never makes it clear if this is all just a dream, night terrors or childish paranoia...or if there's something deeper going on, something far more sinister.

No matter the answer, this game was an amazing experience that I had a lot of fun with and a lot to say about, I look forward to whatever these developers make in the future, this was so fun, and as a massive PVZ fan who plays a lot of mods, it was a very fun twist on the PVZ formula.

...Oh right, the music box. The music box is cool! A nice twist on the sunflower, if the game is ever expanded upon, it'd be cool if the music box can be selected to play a different song that has a different effect, such as a song, with benefits that come at the cost of sun production.

For example, a song that makes the box automatically play, or one that speeds up unit attack, or one that gives more sun, but makes enemies faster.

That's all, if the devs ever read this, I totally loved this little game, despite the minor issues I had with it, it was a great time!
