The highlight of this is definitely the presentation - the sprites are adorable with a whole lot of small animations and fits the SoL vibes, the partial voice acting helps to establish personality through vocal suggestions, there's additional art to highlight comedic moments, and the music/sound effects really pulls it all together.
The comedy aspect works by not taking itself too seriously, and the character dynamics work well which is key as they're the meat of the story.
Take this is as from someone who doesn't really "get" slice of life, but I did feel like the story consisted of 80% scenes to establish characters, with a relatively low-stakes narrative conflict showing up in the end that pretty much resolved itself. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun game moment-to-moment with a whole bunch of polish - it just didn't result in much outside of this.
