The Last Light of Icarus stands out for its nonbinary representation, first and foremost, even if I didn't have everything else backing it up. But thankfully it's more than just a pretty face. Or, an occasionally uncanny valley face, since Arc's surprise face is a bit... terrifying.
Still, a lot of love went into this VN at every level. "Pay your artists" isn't really anything anyone in this scene needs to hear, but the advantage of paying artists to do this professional grade work for not just the art, but the voice acting and the UI design as well. The UI first, it really helps add to the little pieces of authenticity to the game. The shattered Save Screens, the tactile crt esque lines, it's good.
The voice acting... not all voice actors are created equal, and that's okay. I'm personally biased, but I am glad that you picked the voice actor that has a "partner" over the one that "strives to walk as close as he can to jesus" to play the middle aged queer man in space. Nothing inherently wrong or indicative about either of those statements, but like. iykyk.
Anyway the real va comes in through Lior. Wow, what a sell. I mean Lior is already a really charming character who we see a lot of personality from, both through their room, their fashion, their interactions with Arc, and perhaps most importantly their journal. If Lior wasn't such a beautiful person it would make the end of the game a lot easier. Their relationship with Arc really is where the game's main draw is.
Overall Last Light of Icarus is an amazing experience, an example of sci-fi at its best: use of a fantastical far future environment to explore deeply human feelings and questions
