Didn't download myself but I watched a friend play through the whole thing, and it's a visual novel, so I don't think actual "gameplay" really matters. I read the book. I voiced Oto-hime and every coworker, and my friend voiced Shimako and her thoughts, and my other friend commented a lot..
Can't speak on voice acting because we had it off, but from the like, two lines I heard, it was good.
The music wasn't particularly memorable, but it was nice. I liked the track in the coworker room thing.
The background art was really nice. Someone else noted that the art does tend to clash, which I agree with.
I wish there were more CGs (a lot of scenes were confusing without them, e.g initial scenes where you wake up on Oto-hime's lap and it's only revealed such via dialogue a bit later) and more sprites for Oto-Hime, as well as custom coworker sprites to make them feel more like people (even if it was just 1 sprite each). I do understand that this was for a jam, so I understand WHY this happened, but overall it dampens the quality of the VN.
Dialogue can feel somewhat redundant at times. Shimako also feels kind of dumb? Ignoring any feelings about Oto-Hime, as that can be attributed to gaslighting, she just makes some very questionable observations. Forcing players more into her perspective (e.g blurring things she hasn't seen yet like the world around her) would be helpful. Early on me and my friends laughed quite a lot at her NOT realizing she was underwater, because it's so PAINFULLY obvious to the player!!!
Besides that I enjoyed the overall writing. Oto-Hime is an interesting character even if I personally felt little sympathy for her, but I think it's meant to be subjective like that. I like her design as well as Shimako's, and Shimako is a decent enough protagonist and Oto-Hime herself is a good character.
I can't say I'll ever reread, but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys yandere stories!!! It's a decent depiction of gaslighting and guilt tripping. Not too long, and not too short.
