The game's story is told in a strictly non-linear fashion, which only made the experience all the more eerie. 
The flashbacks, moments of recollection, and the things we can reasonably deduce seem to be operating on completely different wavelengths, and it's great. 
Using Bitsy to tell this game's narrative was such a good move.  The art complements the story well, and the jankiness of Bitsy ironically created an atmosphere that made the entire playthrough feel heavier, in a way.
