A remarkably engaging, well-conceived title! Despair Dilemma isn't afraid to become everything a "death game" tabletop experience needs to be, presenting a bespoke design with many pieces (each typically agnostic to any given player's ownership) and nearly as many unique mechanical motivations via its Plot Books; this and Eureka! offer real hope that we can see more longer-form corebooks that embrace inter-player conflict in the space rather than condemn the idea outright.
Despair Dilemma's demo already established the potential of this concept within the medium and the creators' commitment to seeing it through. The full game and its breadth of Death Game Sheets, however, still managed to surprise me. Each one either began or ended with me going "Huh. I guess this is a good system to play that out in, isn't it?" with growing astonishment and confidence in accord. I didn't need to be convinced at this stage, and yet I was all the same. Congratulations! This game set out to do something, and it sure did do it.
