Well, I'm properly spooked. Proximate starts out as one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. And the developers know this, which is why the instructions remind me that the frustration is part of the experience, and that it's the in-universe UI that's awful, not me. That was reassuring and helped me push on into the bizarre experience of this underwater research laboratory.

Somehow, SOMEHOW, the game flips perfectly between "humorously frustrating exploration," "humorous, endearing, tragic, or raw info dumps", and "oh god what the fuck what the fuck have I stumbled into oh god oh god".

I want to say more. Instead, you should just get the game.
