Dream-Dash rated Alchemy Quest Demo

A downloadable game.

Damn was the art direction on this project incredible. While playing I saw what seemed to be a hundred unique poses/animations which were all super impressive to see, especially since the backgrounds, other characters, and especially equipment on the main character was on point! However Alchemy Quest did come with it's flaws, notably with the combat. The gameplay loop revolved around going into "The Cellar" and entering dungeons with 5 waves of enemies then a boss. This was without a doubt fun the first time when I was learning the game. It was hard at first to complete even three waves of enemies but I was able to win after upgrading the skill tree and learning basic mechanics such as the elixir: a once-per-run consumable that greatly increased likelihood of survival. The second dungeon was also unique because while it gave enemies new and hard combat techniques, I was compensated by being given a companion for help as well as my almost full understanding of game mechanics. My major complaint came with the third dungeon, because while the dungeon featured unique enemies, I didn't feel any more powerful and most importantly I was far less engaged with the enemies than with the previous dungeon since my skills were mostly maxed and I had no new-feeling "toys" to play with. Despite the dropoff towards the end, Alchemy Quest was a good game and I would recommend trying at least the first two levels, but maybe skip out on the third level.
