As part of Vee Debras’ ARC team, I got the honor of an ARC copy in exchange of an honest review.

(And it's honestly kinda late, but life happens sometimes.)

Long story short: I loved it.

Long story long: Dusk was my favorite character in Ness' book. I feel in love with their way of seeing Dusk. And the same happened the other way around: I feel in love with Dusk’s view of Ness.

They're so ridiculous and platonic to each other, I can't believe it.

Now, Dusk's story… it hurts. It hurt hella more because I'm hanging out under the physical mobility problems arch and it's not fun from here, it's a lot worse from Dusk's point.

His relationship with his demon… That's spicy 😏 I'm actually not a fan, but there's something about Vee’s writing that keeps me feeling safe even in those intimate situations. The miscommunication and misunderstanding are awful, though. Needing an angel to mediate seemed baffling, but with two stubborn creatures (are both Taurus, perhaps?), that's kinda how it has to be for it to work… somehow. Well, it worked, so.

I got to love Dusk with Ness, but with Dusk… I appreciate him a lot more. I'm in a point of life where I'm bearing a lot of pain too, so I got to relate in painful levels. He was as gloomy and grumpy and snarky and sarcastic as expected, and a lot more. Dramatic they are, those siblings. Because Juniper isn't saved.

There was a lot of build up for Juniper's book, so I'm waiting 👀 Though it seems like we're going t to some new characters next (necromancer and undead?). Nonetheless, I got the back to back with both Ness and Dusk, so I'm satisfied. And though Dusk's book isn't going to my comfort reading shelf, I should read it again to highlight the parts I would want to read every time I need comfort.

I'm very grateful for this. To be seen this way, even if only through parts. After so many years being wholly neglected.
