Now, let me be honest, I've not played H Games in a good while. But this is one of the better ones I've recently checked out.
I would like to see some features such as having a display that shows your current lure (I spent half an hour trying to fish up a pike with the wrong bait), or an indicator to show when crops are fully grown (maybe a little sparkle effect?).
Some fish are downright impossible to catch, even with the best hook and rod, because of their erratic movement, but it's not that big of an issue, since it will only happen once or twice.
One specific gallery IS indeed innacessible, since it requires you to talk to your pet at a specific point in progression, which I didn't do, so I'm locked out of it forever now (seems like it's the GIF from this page below though)
The gambling woman, who is that witch, is an ass sometimes. I went with 1000 coins bet and the first card I clicked was a reaper. I sold my fish for another 1k and yet again, I got a reaper on the first card I flipped. I can't really figure out how the game decides if there's 1 or 2 reaper cards.
Another issue is the menus themselves. When you're rapidly clicking to skip the dialogue, you can click out of the menus themselves sometimes, which is frustrating.
Also, the scenes themselves being mostly stills is just a bummer, I wish they were animated, they look great.
Other than that, the game nails most of what it wants to be. I very much appreciate how simple it is. In the gardening menu, I could understand how everything worked just by looking at it, as if I'd already played the game before, even though I haven't. I don't even play farming simulators. The fimiliarity and intuitiveness is very good, I didn't need the help menu at all, I just knew it naturally.
The graphics are good, nice blend of pixel art with non-pixel haze, especially visible at the swamp at night.
The progression is alright, most of it is fetch quests, but you do get rewarded with a new scene almost every time, which keeps you engaged (even if they're stills xP). Sometimes I really didn't know what to do, but you can actually just check your "diary" to see what quests you have for which characters.
Fishing can be boring, I'm gonna be honest, it's almost fully RNG, but I guess that's just how it is. I would however like to see a feature that shows you which fish each type of bait can catch.
Overall, It's pretty enjoyable, definitely a tier well above the average for this genre. I would like to see some DLC of some sort with more fish, quests, scenes, etc. Maybe just animate the already existing ones, that would be great.
(personal rating) Graphics 31/40 | Gameplay 30/40 | Animations 21/40
I played the web version, for clarification
