A very fun and lighthearted experience! Humor was often charming, the tone felt consistent, and the visuals are simply to die for.
Unlike other games posted by flaming hot lemon, I never noticed typos, punctuation errors, or inconsistencies between the sprites and dialogue. There were however, inconsistencies with the location described vs the background seen in game. There were times where the setting was described as being the city streets of Tokyo, but the background would be that of a park. I do think the extra effort to create an original background asset would've helped keep things more engaging/grounded. It was hard to imagine scenes like the city parade or shopping sprees in a forest-y area.
(This is absolutely no shade toward the background artist(s?), by the way! Their work is simply phenomenal and absolute eye-candy!)
The characters are fun and I enjoyed both routes quite a bit. Although I'm personally more of a slow burn enjoyer, I feel the incredibly lighthearted tone and whimsical writing made the almost-instant relationships feel more natural. I didn't feel the need to ask questions, as it was more enjoyable to just roll with whatever the plot threw at me.
I do think my biggest issue with the game is the lack of a history screen or rollback. Disabling rollback I can understand to a degree, but the history screen? It's a huge quality of life feature that's practically expected in visual novels. I'm rather curious behind the decision of removing it.
This combination did hinder my personal experience. I can read too fast and fail to fully register the words I just clicked past, so not having an option to easily look back left me frustrated. If I really wanted to reread a line so bad, I'd have to go back from my last save, which I almost never did due to the inconvenience of it all.
The lack of transitions between most scenes did bother me as well. It felt a little odd when I'd be one place, but the next second I'm somewhere different being given little time to breathe. I personally think even a short "fade to black screen -> new scene" transition would've done well, but that is simply my opinion.
Some choices were also done strangely. This only happened on occasion, but a button would appear restating the question just asked, and the player would be allowed to click on it. I appreciate that clicking these buttons doesn't actually do anything, but I do wonder if they needed to be included in the first place? If it's a matter of the reader needing to understand the question, I think the inclusion of a history screen they can look back on would fulfill that role quite well.
I did enjoy the game. I don't think it's done anything particularly revolutionary, but it also doesn't have to. It's just a fun time meant to make you smile and perhaps yearn after a cute boy or two... And it does that very well.
Beautiful eye-catching visuals, clean UI, charming writing, and good length. The lack of a history screen and the present inconsistencies between writing/visuals and code(?) sadly hold it back from a 5 star in my eyes.
Thanks so much to everyone who worked hard to make this project come to life. I wish you all luck on your future endeavors!
