I just finished my first playthrough of Confusion.

Non-spoiler review: Of all the different smut I have enjoyed over the years, nothing has really scratched this particular itch like Confusion. The story is a bit of a slow burn if you're just here for hot scenes, but frankly, it's to the game's strength more than any sort of weakness. If you decide to play Confusion, you're getting more than just some trans porn, what you're getting in actuality is some of the best trans writing I've ever experienced, and high-quality, artful, smut.

Spoiler review: I've spent the past week playing nothing but Confusion. Now, I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands personally, so I tend to try and find a half-ass decent porno game to enjoy when I'm in the mood for it, but having tastes that I do, sometimes that is difficult to find, and often I find myself settling for subpar quality stuff that I clickthrough dialogue to get to the hot stuff, only to find that the hot stuff is similarly poorly written or low quality in other ways. Colour me incredibly surprised when, after doing what I'd "normally" do in these sorts of games, I get to the leadup to the first date between Alex and Brad. I decide to turn the game on auto to let the dialogue roll through, as I saw that a date was coming, and would lead into, assumably, a sex scene. Instead, I got a glimpse of the fantastic writing I had just skipped through to reach that point, and, wondering if it were some sort of fluke, started again at the beginning. I have been deeply, personally affected me. The writing in this visual novel is of such high quality, I'd happily read another ten, or hundred chapters with these characters and their lives. Every single character feels like a real human being, with all the good, and the bad that can be found in folks. Not once did I feel something was totally out of place with how a character acted in a particular scene. I just cannot properly express how excellent the writing here is. The subject matter covered, both on serious and sexual subjects, is handled with excellence. I have felt so many feelings going through this novel the past week. ...and with multiple endings, I am happy to experience them a couple more times as well. Oh. The sex scenes are also really, really fucking good too.

To development, if you read this, I hope you do more work with these characters, a sequel, an enhanced edition, or something. If not, having seen the end, I understand you're already at work on your next project, and I am very excited to see that!

TL;DR Come for the porn, stay for the incredible writing. Not to be missed.
