Wasekechak rated Dead Air

A downloadable game.

This is a great apocalyptic game. Played with a deck of playing cards, and nerves of steel. As a short wave radio enthusiast, this game tickled my ether waves. I have a couple of "radio friends" and we broadcast our  "programs" to each other. There's scavenging for resource, equipment to maintain, and disasters to contend with. The timeline can be any along the radio history. The communities in the book are mostly Scotland, but you can translate that to any location (hopefully remote) you want. This can be a pretty dark game, as it is the end of humanity (your choice of disasters) Fiona lays it out nicely how to play, and the game includes some nice graphical elements to get you in the mood.

Depending how hard you want the game to be, you can adjust your disasters (diamond cards) to suit the 10 rounds of play. You have 3 remits to fulfill to the survivors of your territory. Primary, Secondary, and News. You do this buy drawing 3 cards for the primary, 1 for the secondary, and the news section comes from tables. You then have a scavenging round and a broadcast round. Fiona gives you examples of play, and maps (both blank and setup), and some tips on rebuilding society after the big one. Super fun play, either solo or with friends.
