potatoidea rated Bedrot

A browser Visual novel made in HTML5.

Came here from the main VN page. Just played thru it all and have some mixed feelings.

What I enjoyed:

- The presentation. The art is great!

- The gameplay. The stationary point-and-click VN concept is really neat! It's my first time playing an RPG Maker game that looks and plays like this, and I'd love to see more games explore these gameplay concepts.

- The concept. Again, there's some really neat concepts in here. I like the idea of a VN where you examine objects and slowly "rot away" towards the ending as it were.

What I disliked:

- The execution. It's not bad per say, but it pulled me out of it. As someone that's been in similar situations in the past (but currently isn't), it doesn't feel "true" to life in a way. It feels more like it's written from an outside perspective.

- The writing. It's my first time playing a game from this dev, so I don't know how representative it is of their work, but most of it felt a little "heavy-handed" for lack of a better word. The writing style didn't really feel compelling to me, tho I'm sure others might be into it. All that said, there were some tiny moments I liked.

It's not a bad game, but I came off of it wishing it was something different.
