This was super fun! I loved the creepy cute vibes, but there was a good amount of humor, too! I found myself chuckling a few times. I think the balance between comedy and tragedy was nicely handled. I feel neither one went too over-the-top and it was just the right amount of both. All the characters were interesting each with their own personalities and backstories which I feel were thoroughly thought out. And I love the creepycute designs of the characters that gives me mascot horror vibes (which is my personal favorite type of horror game). The slow descent into insanity was nicely handled I thought. It certainly does an excellent job of establishing the tone.
Hard to pick a favorite, because I liked all of the main cast, but probably Bailey if I had to choose. Though I feel biased, considering we got to spend more time with them and learned the most about their past. They are a tragic mess and their backstory was just heart wrenching. Though I am curious in seeing more of the other characters as well!
I appreciate that you can choose the difficulty of the minigames at least (or even bypass them I think). They added a nice touch to help freshen up the gameplay and fit the theme of the story nicely. Didn't feel too forced or out of place.
I also enjoyed the point and click elements, including the "hide n seek" minigame. I think they definitely aid in the mystery aspects and I enjoyed finding out more about the lore of the island along the way.
I never felt confused or lost about what I was supposed to be doing nor overwhelmed with info, so I feel the amount of guidance vs. figure it out for yourself was spot on.
I think my only complaint is I didn't really understand the purpose of the recipe book. Unless I'm completely missing something, it felt kind of pointless to me. Though to be fair, this is just a demo, so I'm assuming it'll be more relevant in the full release.
Overall the story, characters, and setting all managed to captivate my interest. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more in the future as this seems quite the little gem and would recommend to those who are a fan of creepycute horror games/vns.
