This story was incredibly raw. I didn't know what to say after reading it. It's not only gruesome, but also very tragic. There's trauma, loss, bodily violation, social exile, and emotional pain throughout.

While I can't personally relate to the character's experience of transitioning, I can empathize. Stories like this help me better understand that kind of journey, even if only in part. Maybe I don't need to say much more. Maybe the most important thing we can do is simply be there without judgment, just a constant presence so they're not completely alone, for someone going through their own kind of transformation, pain, or reckoning.
