So I'm completely unfamiliar with Monster Hunter and can't make much comment on canonicity or faithfulness to those games. What I can say is that, just as a romance VN where you date big monster dudes, this is pretty fun, and is one of the few games where I played all of the available routes without hesitation. That speaks a fair bit on the quality of the writing. This game does a good job balancing the romance and the character drama.

If I were to offer any criticism, it would mostly be on the language used. The in-text references to Runan as a "tsundere" and Leo as a "himbo" feel a bit out of place within the context of the rest of the story, and I personally found Runan especially to be a bit grating at times because of how on-the-nose and trope-heavy his tsundere act is. On the other hand, the rest of the cast is very well realized, flaws and all. Special mention to Jin and Joseph, who are the two stand-out characters for me.
