I spent WAY too much time on this game, and for a dauntingly simple reason: the rush of gambling. There is a enough semblance of strategy to trick you into believing it's not just luck , but more often than not each fight is already predetermined by the perks you've found along the way. There aren't many REAL, hard choices the player has to make, there is a single strategy that works: take whatever the game lets you, then roll dice to sum to at least 6. If you're lucky, you win.
