An absolute solid foundation for a visual novel. My absolute favorite AVNs are ones where the story is as important as the H-Scenes (Eternum, My Bully is my Lover, Ripples, Cozy Cafe, etc). Many AVNs use the story as a thinly veiled excuse of setting up each sex scene. Wild Cats notched in nicely with the aforementioned AVNs as havimg a rich and meaningful story that just so happens to also include H-Scenes.
The characters are well developed and the dialog is well thought out. The story is constructed in such a way that the reader cares about both the MC and LIs. So often the MC is purely intended as a self insert with most of the character development focused on the LIs. It is refreshing to see the MC have as much focus as the LIs in this department.
I know the first two paragraphs have focused on story and writing, but that is not to day that the renders and animations are lacking. The graphics for this AVN are also top notch. Most of the characters are beautiful (with the exception of the crypt keeper Basketball coach) and the set pieces are wonderful with a wide variety.
I do, however, have two small points of criticism that I would like to bring up. To me, these are more nitpicky and personal preferences, hince why I didn't have them harm my rating.
1) When it comes to choices, I am not a big fan of choices that send you directly to 'end game'. This is especially true when there are only two choices. The main reason is because it really is only the Illusion of a choice since ultimately you reload and choose the other option. I understand it can used as a way of teaching the reader that the choices in this AVN have consequences (especially when a large majority of AVNs are littered with superficial choices), but it just irks me.
2) From my understanding in the intro, each LI has three routes (Romance, Friend, and 'Enemy'). With only having gone through the 1st chapter, I hope there is a way (at least this early) to move between routes and losing a route permanently is not yet possible.
The main reason I say this is because I 'wanted' the MC to romance Lexi, and felt like the whole H-Scene in Chapter 1 was not romantic, per se, so I chose to politely decline. This isn't a knock on casual sex being a 'route', but for whatever reason I liked the idea of having the option to build MCxLexi's relationship into something with more substance.
I just find the chemistry between the MC and Lexi to be really good and enjoyed the sexual tension between the two of them. It felt 'fun' to have one of the LIs be doing most of the chasing. This dynamic is exceedingly rare in AVNs and felt refreshing. The problem was, without any indication (like a character screen) we are left with infering. Lexi's reaction to politely declining to shower with her (only having known her for less than 12 hours) gave the strong impression that the 'romance' route was lost.
All-in-all I am excited to see the direction this story heads in!
