Dead Plate is my second favourite indie horror game next to Dicentra, and I cannot recommend it enough! I love how Studio Investigrave wrote Rody, and I found myself getting so attached to him as I played! Not only was the game's plot beyond compelling (my heart rate spiked several times and I did in fact stand 'agog' at one point; my roommate's words lol), with beautifully done nightmare sequences and stunning sound design, but holy crap did this scratch an itch deep in my brain This was the first game I ever played by Studio Investigrave, and I wholeheartedly blame it for my current obsession with the other games they have made lol. Something about the way SI depicts fear and horror will always sit right with me, the expressions, the descriptions, the music!
Oh my Dear God the music!!
While the story alone is more than enough reason to play this game (seriously if you like novel, compelling stories, please play this), the music was something else entirely. I remember reaching a certain point in the game, hearing the most banging violin OST I have ever heard in my life and having to promptly turn off the game to find the OST so I could enjoy it properly. Major props to Bell Kalengar for composing such a fitting piece! (Seriously how did you hit the nail on the head so well??)
This game deserves every iota of praise it gets, its popular for a reason, and I highly recommend Studio Invesigrave's other games as well! (Cold Front and Married in Red are my favourites personally<3) If you're a big fan of unique plots, interesting characters with beautiful designs, eye-catching art styles, and hella symbolism, please give Studio Investigrave a chance! You won't regret it!
