This game is somewhat difficult to rate because it is WILD. I'll preface this with that we played it in stream as a group, but I doubt that it will be less of a ride playing it on one's own.
Contains spoilers so like, close your eyes I guess:
The MC is straight up jorking it. That's our start <3 The language used for this is... weird??? A touch of ESL, was my first thought. But it goes on. And on. And on. This jerkoff session is longer than many sex scenes I've read (of which I've read zero, I'm not some kinda freak 🙄)
We then move on (there is in fact more to life than jorking it, apparently) to ignoring our best friend so we can instead run into an older bear. We immediately fuck the bear who could singlehandedly perform a communist parade with the amount of red flags he has. And we're also like, falling in love within three seconds. The sex scene with this bear is literally 1/10 of the jerkoff scene.
I SEE THE VISION. This is a horror game, and the alleged romance aspect is center stage of the horror. If that was not the intention; yes it is. This is the kind of dread delivered through sex-as-plot-device I write (The Red Ballet 'enjoyers' rn: 🧍). The tie-in to Fragments of the Past - delivered through surrealist dreams - and the twist of the town already support the horror aspect well. The dissonance between "wtf, that's creepy as hell", immediately followed by something that could be misconstrued as sweet makes the sweetness so, so much more "WHAT THE FUUUCK IS GOING ON". Out of all the novembears, this one kept me the most engaged and stressed out (partly because I genuinely couldn't tell what was going to happen, partly because the antagonist is terrifying).
The rating of 4 stars is only because of the current issues regarding sentence structure, mistakes in the code that leaves text elements that should not be there, and the relative lack of audio. And for making me read the words pulsating butthole.
I don't know where this story will go, but I fear for our brains because what's currently here melted mine.
