sitebender rated Zelda's Adventure

A browser game made in HTML5.

It is a fantastic idea to recreate a lost game from a doomed console from a beloved franchise like Zelda, but this is a rough game. Rough in the sense that when I attack with the staff, there is no animation, a staff is pasted onto the background. I can walk over the staff briefly before it disappears. The staff doesn't really hit enemies, but still defeats them. When foes are finished, they drop hearts, where then I need to pick them up by pushing a button. Maybe this is how the true Zelda's Adventure was for the ill fated Phillips CDi, but it is still bad.

Beyond that, there are no sound effects. Opening treasure chests reveal the items within, but then I need to walk around them to get them into my inventory. Enemies throw their boomerangs without facing me. Once I obtain their boomerang, I can't seem to throw it, even after equipping it.

Coming out of the menu makes enemies appear again. It's an amazingly cumbersome game. You can save anywhere, but doing so will warp you to the entrance of the room you're in.

Zelda's Adventure here looks great, but it should, since it looks like Link's Awakening. Beauty is only skin deep.
