Ludonauta rated Fearless Islands

Ludonauta rated a game 6 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

This entry feels so well polished! It has some of the systems I would only expect in an alpha, like persistent data allowing player to maintain progress between play sessions. The user interface is very well placed as well, things are intuitive, at least for an english speaker, which can be something to improve if you want to embrace broader audiences.

The combat is well done as well, especially taking in account that it is asynchronous gameplay, there is an exploration and a combat screen which adds a lot of complexity in the development side.

I felt there are some small improvement that could help improve this game even more:

  • The combat history could be persistent the whole battle, so we could see how we are performing (I think you can use a ScrollContainer for that and allow the player to navigate the history)
  • There is a small lag when loading the combat screen, you could make a screen transition, this would relieve a bit of the anxiety due to the lag (player may think the game stucked for a while)
  • Display the dice roll, I know the damage implicitly tells the roll, but it would be good to see a number popping from the dice displaying the player's roll for his current action :D

But that's about it, the entry feels really, really polished, graphics are amazing (which is really good for and adventure game like this), the music is good as well (ohh btw, how about an option menu to tweak some volumes?) and everything matches the game concept. Congratulations on that entry!
